Dundee: If it’s Good Enough for Warren, It’s Good Enough for Me!
The Dundee-Memorial Park neighborhood, located in central Omaha, is adjacent to the spacious Memorial and Elmwood parks, which border the University of Nebraska, Omaha. As Omaha’s first suburb, Historic Dundee was established in 1880 and consisted of six homes in an area from 48th to 52nd Streets and from Capitol to California. Back then, homeowners were offered $500 to build in Dundee. Today, it is one of Omaha’s most coveted places to live.
From May to October, flower baskets adorn the charming cast iron lamp posts accenting the neighborhood. Quaint, one-of-a kind shops line the main streets and stately 20th Century homes surround them. The neighborhood association website has a walking tour map available for download that takes you through the heart of lovely downtown Dundee. As you soak up the sights of this historic Omaha neighborhood, you’ll likely feel as if you've been transported back in time.
Homes start in the low $170’s and then head upward. While Omaha Public Schools offer transportation for area students, many private school options are easily accessed as well. Dundee was recently voted one of the top 10 neighborhoods in the country by the American Planning Association. And, with Warren Buffet calling Dundee home for the last 30 years, it has to be a valuable place to live.
